This week’s QUEEN on the Week is Lauryn Rogers!
Lauryn is a professional knot maker.
In this episode we learn all about Lauryn’s macrame business.
This, is macrame for those of you who don’t know.
Originally with the intention of starting a succulent and floral arrangement business, Lauryn discovered a beautiful macrame plant hanger one night on Pinterest.
After that, she went to the university of Youtube to figure out how to do it.
Then, she set out to make the first plant hanger of many.
It was on.
Soon after, Lauryn got asked to bring her macrame pieces to the Farmers Market.
Her first day at the Farmer’s Market she couldn’t believe how well she did.
We walk through the emotions Lauryn felt when she made her first big sale.
The name of her business is Roots Co.
This came from the original intention of being a succulent propagating business but also on a personal level.
Lauryn was searching for a way to get back to her ROOTS.
She had just had a baby, and felt a little lost and alone in the world.
Felt like she was searching for a way to put her roots down and show up as her own person.
So her business was the way to show up as herself and a way to express her creativity.
Now, Lauryn has so many custom orders she keeps busy.
Sometimes spending up to 60+ hours on a single macrame piece alone!
One of the main reasons why I respect Lauryn so much is because she has a full time job,
is a wonderful momma to her little girl,
keeps the house in order,
yet still grows her business.
