In a past life,

I’m pretty sure I was Rory Gilmore.

Addicted to coffee, filled with witty comebacks, and obsessed with reading.

In honor of Rory I’m going to talk about 2 books that I’ve been OBSESSED with recently.

1. The War of Art

This is the book you read when you’re tired of self sabotage.

When you feel like you can’t get the things done you want to get done, grab this book.

I’m halfway through and already it brings up some great points.

A couple favorite quotes so far are,

“Are you paralyzed with fear? That’s a good sign. Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator. Fear tells us what we have to do. Remember one rule of thumb: the more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.”

“Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.”

“Our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.”

Here’s a link to grab your copy.

The second Book is…

2. Girl, Wash Your Face

Grab your copy here!

This one is a quick breath of fresh air from your best friend.

When I’m reading this book I feel like I’m talking to an old friend. Rachel isn’t trying to be holier than though, she is just being honest about what worked for her and what didn’t.

This is a book that every woman should read.

As an extra benefit, Rachel Hollis the author is a Bakersfield girl too!

I talk all about it in this Instagram post.

So that’s pretty cool too.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Rachel,

“Your dream is worth fighting for, and while you’re not in control of what life throws at you, you are in control of the fight.”

“When you really want something, you will find a way. When you don’t really want something, you’ll find an excuse.”

“decide that you care more about creating your magic and pushing it out into the world than you do about how it will be received.”

If you are looking to pick up a new book this week I highly recommend these two.

Until next time friends!
